Mechanical Spinal Traction
The goal of mechanical spinal traction is to gently pull your vertebrae apart from each other.
This gentle pulling results in more space for your nerves at the point where they exit your spinal column.
What is Mechanical Traction?
During this therapy, the patient is placed on a specialized motorized table and securely strapped to the machine. The device exerts a steady, controlled pulling force—determined by Dr. Evan—to gently gap the vertebrae and relieve compression. This can be done for either cervical traction (pulling the head from the neck) or lumbar traction (pulling the waist or hips from the upper torso).
Benefits
- Nerve Decompression- Creates space between vertebrae, relieving pressure caused by herniated discs, bulging discs, or spinal stenosis.
- Pain Relief- Reduces sharp shooting pains in the arms or legs by freeing trapped nerves and reducing radiating symptoms.
- Muscle Relaxation- Stretches tight back and neck muscles, reducing severe spasms and muscle guarding.
- Enhanced Healing- Improves blood and fluid circulation to the spinal discs and surrounding tissues, promoting a better environment for natural repair.
- Improved Mobility- Decreases stiffness, allowing for a better range of motion and increased ease during daily tasks.
